H: RMT bus workers strike 150

WORKERS at a bus company in Surrey are set to strike after bosses continued to deny them their basic right of being represented by a union of their choice, RMT announced yesterday.

Transport union RMT says despite the fact that it is the biggest union at the depot, the company refuses to recognise it and have instead opted for a minority organisation with a handful of members.

Members of the union at Quality Line in Epsom have been instructed not to book on for any shifts on Monday December 4.

General secretary Mick Cash said: “Our representatives have tried repeatedly to broker a fair solution but every attempt has been thrown back in our faces despite the fact that RMT is by far and away the biggest union at the Epsom depot.

“As a result of this appalling breach of fundamental human rights we have no option but to put strike action on for 24 hours on Monday December 4.”
