TRADE unions welcomed a major boost to Britain’s economy today after Jaguar Land Rover announced it will be building electric cars in the West Midlands.
The company confirmed it will be retooling its factory in Castle Bromwich to allow electric cars to be assembled at the plant.
A version of the Jaguar XJ sedan will be the first all-electric vehicle scheduled to be built by the company’s 2,500 workers — and Castle Bromwich will be the first such plant in Britain.
