Royal shambles boosts republican case

THE constitutional crisis caused by Boris Johnson and Elizabeth Windsor’s illegal proroguing of Parliament is strengthening Labour For A Republic’s cause, the campaign group’s Theo Morgan said.

“A hereditary monarchy is incompatible with Labour’s socialist values,” Mr Morgan told the group’s fringe meeting on Tuesday night, ironically held in the Regency Suite at the Old Ship Hotel on Brighton seafront.

“The Queen is meant to be impartial and above politics, yet [she] has enabled Johnson to break the law as the Supreme Court ruled this morning.”
