Multiple 'kamikaze' drones hit Kiev ahead of Putin's meeting with Belarus
Ukrainian State Emergency Service firefighters work to extinguish a fire at an infrastructure facility after a Russian drone attack

KIEV and its surroundings were attacked with multiple “kamikaze” explosive drones this morning, with key infrastructure being hit, just hours before Russian President Vladimir Putin met with with his Belarussian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.

Ukraine’s authorities said that the country’s forces had shot down 18 out of the 23 self-exploding drones, with the attack — the third air strike on the country’s capital in six days — leaving at least three people wounded and nine buildings damaged.

The drones used in the attacks are cheap disposable unmanned aircraft that plummet towards their target and detonate on impact.
