THE Fire Brigades Union (FBU) will announce national strike dates tomorrow if bosses fail to “table a significantly improved pay offer” in crisis talks taking place today.
The union said yesterday that it hoped to resolve the dispute without the need for walkouts but warned “angry” members were prepared to act following a below-inflation 5 per cent wage offer.
Late last month, the FBU gave employers 10 days to come up with a better offer after 88 per cent of its members backed strikes on a whopping 73 per cent turnout — well above Tory anti-union thresholds.
