Boohoo scandal sparks demands for fashion watchdog

FAST-FASHION brand Boohoo’s continued unethical breaches demonstrate the urgent need for the creation of a fashion watchdog, Leicester East MP Claudia Webbe said today.

An investigation by BBC Panorama broadcast this week found that the business has broken promises to make its clothes fairly, and allegedly put pressure on suppliers to drive prices down.

The revelation comes three years after the company overhauled its ethical practices following reports that workers at a Leicester factory made garments for less than minimum wage and worked in unsafe conditions.
