PLAID CYMRU pledged at the weekend to recruit 500 new doctors, restore pay levels for junior doctors and improve pay for carers.

Health and care spokesman Mabon ap Gwynfor set out the party’s plan to tackle the health crisis in Wales.

Mr ap Gwynfor told delegates at the party’s spring conference that a Plaid government would address long-standing problems in GP surgeries and hospitals across Wales.

“We would take immediate action to address the problems in primary care by funding more doctors,” Mr ap Gwynfor said.

“We will also listen to the demands of the striking workforce by restoring the pay levels of junior doctors.

“We would ensure carers in Wales are paid at least one pound an hour above the real living wage.”

The plan to recruit 500 more GPs is over a two-term period of government and the party also pledged to restore GP practice budgets to 8.7 per cent of NHS expenditure.
