MEN’S FOOTBALL: Palestine begin the third round phase of the Asian Football Confederation’s World Cup qualifiers with a group B match against South Korea in Seoul tomorrow. The Koreans, ranked 73 places above the Palestinians, have called up Yang Min-Hyeok for his international debut. The 18-year-old winger signed for Tottenham from Korean League leaders Gangwon in the summer and is set to join the north Londoners in January.
MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Last year’s National Rugby League Grand Final runners-up the Brisbane Broncos play their last game of the season tomorrow against table-toppers Melbourne already knowing that not even a big win will be enough to get them into a top eight play-off spot. The Broncos will be missing centre Kotoni Staggs and second-rower Brendan Piakura due to injury while full back Ryan Papenhuyzen is again missing for Melbourne.
HORSE RACING: Hollie Doyle has become the second British woman to reach a thousand wins after piloting Leyhaimur to victory in Tuesday’s 3.30 at Goodwood. The 27-year-old, who currently sits eighth in this year’s flat racing jockey’s championship with 50 wins will be racing at Ascot tomorrow afternoon. Hayley Turner was the first British woman to ride a thousand winners when she achieved the feat in November last year.
ICE HOCKEY: Reigning grand slam winners the Sheffield Steelers will be missing from the start of the British Ice Hockey season on Saturday as they begin their European Champions League qualifying matches against Fribourg-Gotteron in Switzerland tomorrow evening. The only British qualifiers for the tournament then visit Sweden’s Vaxjo Lakers on Saturday before next week’s home games against Sparta Prague and Swedish play-off winners Skelleftea.
