ABOUT 120 workers at FMC Technologies in Dunfermline will be balloted for strike amid an ongoing pay dispute, Unite has confirmed.

The move comes after 96 per cent of workers at the company, which designs and manufactures wellheads and specialised subsea equipment for the oil and gas industry, rejected bosses’ latest pay offer.

Arguing FMC, whose owners posted earnings of $362.7 million (£270m) in the second quarter of 2026 alone, must deliver more for those generating the cash, Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “If they do not, then our members will be forced into taking strike action to get an acceptable pay rise.”

Launching the ballot, which will end on August 19, Unite industrial officer Graeme Smith added: “The FMC Technologies workers based in Dunfermline are highly skilled, and they produce specialised products for the oil and gas industry.

“They have emphatically rejected the latest pay offer from the company, which is fully aware of what they need to do in order to prevent this dispute from escalating to potential strike action in the coming weeks.”
