GREECE: French President Emmanuel Macron arrived for a two-day state visit to Athens amid a police lockdown on the capital and a ban on protests.

More than 2,000 officers will be on duty during the neoliberal leader’s visit. They began imposing road closures in the capital on Wednesday night.

Government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos hailed the visit as a sign that Greece had finally turned a page and had emerged from its deep financial crisis.
