INDIA: Amazon staff took part in strike action today calling for better wages and working conditions as the company prepares for one of the busiest shopping periods of the year.

The walkout on so-called Black Friday, which starts one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year, was repeated at Amazon warehouses in other countries as workers called for higher wages, better working conditions, and union rights.

SERBIA: Protesters stood in silence for 15 minutes torday for the victims of a roof collapse four weeks ago in a northern city, seeking to keep up pressure on the authorities to punish those responsible for the tragedy.

Traffic was blocked for a third week in a row at various spots in several Serbian cities and towns, including in the northern city of Novi Sad where the concrete outer roof at the central railway station smashed down on people on November 1 without warning.

Fifteen people were killed and three were injured as a result of the collapse.

IRAN: The Iranian government will begin enriching uranium with thousands of advanced centrifuges at its two main nuclear facilities at Fordo and Natanz, the UN nuclear watchdog said today.

The move further raises tensions over Tehran’s programme as it enriches at near weapons-grade levels. 

RUSSIA:  Imprisoned Kremlin critic Alexei Gorinov was convicted again today for opposing Russia’s war in Ukraine and handed a three-year prison term.

Mr Gorinov, a former member of a Moscow municipal council, is already serving a seven-year term for public criticism of Russia’s invasion.
