WOMEN led a march of more than 1,000 Palestine supporters in Manchester on Saturday, declaring their support for the women of Gaza.
The “Manchester Stands with Palestinian Women” march through the city centre ended with a rally with a platform of female speakers including Dr Mona el Farra, who recently returned from Gaza.
She urged protesters to continue their protests until Palestine is free.
It was the 27th consecutive weekend of Palestine protests organised in Greater Manchester.
On Sunday in Margate, Kent, children flew kites in symbolic support of Gazan children facing daily bombing and death as Israel’s genocide continues.
Hilary Chuter of campaign group Thanet4Palestine said: “There is a long history of kite-flying in Palestine.
“In 2011 children in Gaza broke the world record by flying more than 15,000 kites simultaneously.
“Now Gazan children are flying kites to try and escape the horrors of war.
“Local children have been making kites in workshops in Margate and Ramsgate and decorated them with messages in support of the children of Gaza.”
More than 30 weekly protests took place in towns and in cities across Britain on Saturday, including a vigil in St Magnus Cathedral in Kirkwall on Orkney.
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign said: “We must keep taking action to demand the government ends its complicity in Israel’s attacks and stop arming Israel, for an end to Israeli apartheid, and freedom and justice for Palestine.”
