Iran prison leader acknowledges footage of abuse of inmates is real

THE head of Iran’s prison system acknowledged today that video footage revealed by a hacker group showing abuses at Tehran’s Evin prison is genuine.

Mohammed Mehdi Hajmohammadi said that he took responsibility for what he called unacceptable behaviours.

The video was published by the Associated Press (AP) news agency on Monday, along with a report highlighting the abuse faced by inmates at the jail, known for holding political prisoners and those with ties to the West.
