MEN’S BASKETBALL: The new Super League campaign tips off tomorrow night with defending champions London Lions at Bristol. 

The Copper Box Arena-based club have been the dominant domestic force in recent years and waltzed to last year’s title by 12 points. 

Caledonia Gladiators, who were 12 points adrift at the bottom last season, get their campaign under way against league newcomers Liverpool on Saturday in East Kilbride.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Argentina’s Estudiantes won 1-0 at Corinthians, 2-1 on aggregate, to set up a Copa Libertadores semi-final against either defending champions Flamengo or Ecuador’s Independiente del Valle. 

Brazil’s Flamengo take a 2-0 lead into tomorrow morning’s game. 

The other semi-final is an all-Brazilian affair between Fluminense and Palmeiras. 

A Brazilian club has won South America’s equivalent of the Champions League for the last seven years.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: It’s fourth against fifth when the Super League play-offs kick off Friday evening with Wakefield Trinity up against Leigh. 

Tomorrow night’s winners will go on to face Wigan in the semi-finals. Wakefield were four points clear of Leigh during the regular season. 

Saturday’s second semi-final sees defending champions Hull KR at third-placed Warrington, with Leeds awaiting the winners. 

Hull KR finished eight points behind Warrington.

SPEEDWAY: Sheffield will take on Leicester in the Premiership play-off semi-finals after Josh Pickering top-scored with 12 points in their 50-39 thumping of bottom club Northampton in Wednesday evening’s last fixture of the regular season. 

Sheffield will host the first leg of their last-four clash next Thursday. 

The winners will face either table-toppers Belle Vue or defending champions Ipswich in the Grand Final.
