WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Rangers lost their first game of the season but still top the Scottish Women’s Premiership by a point after losing out 2-1 at second-placed Celtic.

Champions Glasgow City are also one point off the summit following their 2-0 win at Hearts.

Hibs saw off Partick 2-0 while the bottom three all lost with Hamilton going down 4-0 at home to Motherwell, Dundee losing 1-0 in Montrose and Aberdeen beating Spartans 2-0.

WOMEN’S CRICKET: England play New Zealand in the first leg of their five match Twenty20 series in Dunedin tomorrow morning.

The visitors have named two squads for this tour because they will be without Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sophie Ecclestone and Alice Capsey for the first three matches as they were playing in the Indian Women’s Premier League (WPL).

Lauren Bell and captain Heather Knight withdrew from the WPL to participate fully in the series.

WOMEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Challenge Cup holders St Helens began their bid for a fourth successive trophy by overwhelming the London Broncos 64-0.

Cardiff edged out Barrow 22-16, Warrington won 52-4 at Bradford and Huddersfield ran in 14 tries to thrash Hull KR 74-0.

Last year’s runners-up Leeds romped to a 52-4 win at Leigh on Sunday when York Valkyrie crushed Sheffield 76-10 and Wigan hammered Salford 68-0.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Ajax host Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final at the Johann Cruyff Arena tomorrow evening.

The Londoners will still be without the injured Sam Kerr, Mia Fishel, Aniek Nouwen and Millie Bright for the tie.

Tonight’s other game sees Benfica up against eight-time winners Lyon before Sweden’s Hacken play Paris St Germain and holders Barcelona are in Bergen to face Brann tomorrow.
