MEN’S BOXING: Moses Itauma stopped Dillian Whyte after less than two minutes of their non-title bout in Saudi Arabia to improve his professional record to 13 straight wins, 11 by knockout. Itauma has only boxed beyond the second round on two occasions. 

On the undercard Kirkby-born Nick Ball won a unanimous decision to outpoint Australia’s Sam Goodman, retain his WBA featherweight title and extend his unbeaten run to 24 fights.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Australia came from 22 points behind to beat South Africa 38-22 in Saturday’s first match of the Southern hemisphere’s Rugby Championship. 

It’s only the second time in 92 years that the Wallabies have won at Ellis Park, Johannesburg. 

New Zealand ran in six tries to see off Argentina 41-24 in Cordoba to lead in the table on points difference and move back to the top of the world’s rankings.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Luis Diaz scored on debut, following his £65 million transfer from Liverpool, as Bayern Munich won 2-1 at Stuttgart to claim the German Super Cup on Saturday evening. 

Last season’s Bundesliga player of the year Harry Kane had opened the scoring in the 18th minute. 

Jamie Leweling netted a stoppage-time consolation for Stuttgart. Munich begin the defence of their league title at home to Leipzig on Friday.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Canberra lead the National Rugby League by two points from Melbourne with three games to go after Canterbury dropped to third following their 32-12 loss at play-off chasing Sydney Roosters. 

The Dolphins slipped out of the top eight after their 38-28 Brisbane derby defeat to the Broncos, Wests beat Manly Warringah 26-12 and North Queensland crushed struggling Newcastle 38-4 this morning.
