MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Champions Cup holders Bordeaux-Begles came from behind to beat Toulouse 30-15 on Sunday and set up a semi final against Bath, who overturned a 21-point first-half deficit to edge past Northampton 43-41.

The other last-four clash will see Toulon up against four-time winners Leinster after the Irishmen produced a dominant second-half performance to cruise past Sale 43-13 and Toulon held off Glasgow 22-19.


CYCLING: Wout van Aert outsprinted Tadej Pogacar in the velodrome after 258kms of racing, at a record average speed of just under 49kmh, to win Sunday’s men’s Paris-Roubaix classic.

Jasper Stuyven was 13 seconds behind in third with Robert Donaldson the top Briton in 35th.

Germany’s Franzisca Koch won the women’s race in a sprint finish from Marianne Vos with Pauline Ferrand-Prevot six seconds back in third.


ICE HOCKEY: Defending champions Belfast Giants crashed out of this year’s play-off quarter finals after suffering a 3-1 shootout loss in Glasgow and going down 3-2 over the two legs.

Glasgow will face Cardiff, 6-2 aggregate winners over Coventry, in the semi finals.

Manchester Storm beat Nottingham 6-5 on aggregate to reach their first ever finals weekend where they will face Sheffield Steelers, 6-2 winners against Guildford.


WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Georgia Gayle top-scored with 23 points, made eight rebounds and ten assists as Sheffield Hatters won 94-82 at Manchester on Sunday evening to stay two points clear in the Super League.

Second-placed Caledonia eased to a 108-56 victory over bottom of the table Cardiff Met, who remain without a win, Newcastle squeezed past Nottingham 59-58, Essex Rebels saw off Leicester 96-56 and London edged out Oaklands 77-72.
