WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Rangers thumped Motherwell 5-0 to stay top of the Scottish Women’s Premier League, one point clear of Celtic who ran rampant in the second half to crush Spartans 7-0. Reigning champions Glasgow City beat Hibs 3-1 to cement third place, Partick lost out 4-1 at home to Hearts, Montrose came from behind to see off Dundee United 3-2 and bottom club Hamilton drew 1-1 with Aberdeen.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Abby Meters top-scored with 28 points as London set new British Basketball League records for the highest score and biggest winning margin in brushing aside bottom club Nottingham 140-42. Leicester stay top of the table after edging to a 79-70 at the Essex Rebels, who hit back to win 87-76 in Manchester, Caledonia lost their unbeaten record in an 87-67 defeat at Sheffield and Newcastle beat Cardiff Met 93-64.

NETBALL: A relatively inexperienced England Roses squad sealed a 2-1 series win against South Africa after winning Sunday’s deciding match 53-50 in front of another packed crowd in Nottingham. New captain Fran Williams was named as the player of the match. The South Africans who are currently ranked sixth best in the world, with England in third, had won Saturday’s second match 61-59 to level the series.

WOMEN’S CRICKET: Smriti Mandhana hit 48 as India gained a comfortable five wicket win over England in Sunday’s dead rubber of their three-match Twenty20 series. England’s victories in the opening two games gave them a sixth successive series win over the Indians in the short format game. Captain Heather Knight top-scored for England with 52 in a modest total of 126 all out as Shreyanka Patil claimed 3-19 and Saiga Ishaque 3-22.
