Glasgow Clan manager Malcolm Cameron was sacked after Thursday night’s 6-2 loss at the Nottingham Panthers that condemned the Scots to their 16th game without a win this season.
They sit rock bottom of the Elite League and have already been eliminated from the Challenge Cup.
Glasgow face Manchester Storm on Saturday evening before travelling to reigning champions Belfast on Sunday.
MEN’S FOOTBALL:
It’s been a good week for Shamrock Rovers.
After winning a third consecutive League of Ireland title without kicking a ball, when Derry failed to beat Sligo on Monday night, they scored their first European group stage goal for 11 years in Thursday’s 1-1 home draw with KAA Gent in the Europa Conference League.
They will receive the League of Ireland trophy after Sunday evening’s game with Derry.
MEN’S RUGBY UNION:
Japan kick off the Autumn International season on Saturday morning when they take on New Zealand in Tokyo.
The All Blacks are fourth in World Rugby’s rankings with Japan tenth.
On Saturday evening Scotland face an Australian side that includes Michael Hooper, returning for his 122nd cap, but will be without prop Scott Sio, who was due to make his debut for Exeter in their match at Gloucester on Friday.
MEN’S FOOTBALL:
Sixty-four clubs from steps three and four of the Football League pyramid take part in the first round of the FA Trophy this weekend.
Highlights of the draw include the clash between Northern Premier League high-fliers Warrington Town and South Shields, previous winners Macclesfield against Guiseley and Hednesford taking on Stourbridge.
There will be no replays, with penalties resolving all drawn games. Winning clubs receive £3,000 prize money, losers £775.
