A NEW website announced today will be launched ahead of the May 7 Senedd election to help voters understand the new electoral system in Wales.
The Electoral Management Board for Wales said it will launch vote.wales in March 2026 after polling data from Survation showed a majority of the Welsh electorate lacked knowledge about the new electoral arrangements in Wales.
A quarter said that feeling uncertain about different aspects of how the Senedd election works would make them less likely to vote.
Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru’s Shereen Williams said: “Giving people the information they need and building up their voting confidence is why we are launching vote.wales in March this year.”
The website will explain how the election system works, how to vote, what the Senedd does, who the candidates are and what they stand for.
The Senedd is expanding to 96 members from 60, with 16 super constituencies, instead of the previous 32, and a fully proportional voting system will be used.
