Knight takes off-field Hundred role but insists ‘England comes first’
England's Heather Knight, May 20, 2025

HEATHER KNIGHT insists continuing to play for England remains her priority despite her new role as London Spirit’s general manager.

Knight will provide Mo Bobat, The Hundred franchise’s director of cricket, with specialist advice on the women’s game having spent four years as their captain, including in the title-winning year of 2024.

The 35-year-old former England skipper and Somerset batter, who was affected by a hamstring injury in 2025, says her move into management has been made with one eye on the future.

“For now I’m still very much committed to playing for England and obviously some of that will start with the domestic side as well,” Knight said.

“It’s not a sign that I’m going to hang up the boots. Part of the negotiation around me taking this job was that playing for England comes first.

“[…] I still have a lot of ambitions in terms of playing and this is me having a little turn towards the future, taking this opportunity to develop to make that transition out of playing the game a little bit easier.

“And it means that I can continue to play and still fulfil the playing ambitions that I’ve got.”
