SIX health workers were cleared of all charges today after they caused £200,000 in damages to JP Morgan’s London offices over the bank’s fossil fuel investments.
A jury returned a unanimous “not guilty” verdict for the four doctors and two nurses known as the JPMorgan Medics who took part in the action in July 17 2022.
They decided to acquit Juliette Brown, David McKelvey, Alice Clack, Patrick Hart, Maggie Fay and Ali Rowe despite not being given a formal legal route to acquit.
Defendants argued they broke bank property out of a “duty of care to all, including those working inside the JP Morgan building” and that their medical responsibility “does not end at the clinic door.”
In her closing remarks, Ms Rowe said: “There are 2.1 billion children on this earth, and half of them are already impacted by air pollution and at risk from climate extremes.
“Since 2000, the company has spent $40bn on regulatory violations, and approximately $290 million on out-of-court settlements related to the victims of Jeffrey Epstein.”
