Israel seizes Palestinians for resisting settler attacks in West Bank

ISRAELI troops abducted eight Palestinians from their homes in the West Bank today, saying they had “chased and assaulted” illegal settlers who had invaded the village of Mukhmas the day before.

Israeli rights groups have warned of escalating settler violence, with Yesh Din today releasing video footage of settlers setting fire to a Palestinian home with the family inside in Deir Dibwan two weeks ago.

Israeli settlers also attacked a march by Palestinians trying to reach their own land in al-Badoud north-east of Ramallah today while in al-Mughayyir soldiers guarded settlers who pelted villagers’ homes with stones and tried to pour toxic substances into their drinking water tanks.

Israel has stepped up its colonisation of occupied Palestine since invading Gaza in 2023, with last year seeing more settlement expansion and planning approvals for new building on Palestinian land than any year on record, according to the United Nations.
