Nation’s biggest doctors’ union considering strike action over pay and pensions

BRITAIN’S biggest doctors’ union is set to assess whether the most senior medics in the NHS want to strike over pay and pensions.

The British Medical Association (BMA) announced yesterday that it plans to open an indicative industrial action ballot for consultants in England next month.

The vote, which would require a formal follow-up ballot if passed, is still a significant escalation towards possible walkouts, the union said.
