Sudanese communists appeal for solidarity fearing ‘severe onslaught’ after military coup

SUDANESE Communist Party (SCP) officials issued an urgent appeal for international solidarity today after the military seized power in a coup, making sweeping arrests.
A state of emergency was declared as General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan dissolved Sudan’s transitional government.
Tanks surrounded the home of interim Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, who was placed under house arrest, while while army and security forces rounded up other ministers and political leaders in the capital Khartoum.
