Environment Agency staff begin 36-hour strike over pay
THE Environment Agency is being hit with another round of industrial action this week as thousands of workers ramp up their fight against “woeful wages.”
The Unison and Prospect unions urged Tory ministers today to “stop ignoring the public body’s invisible workforce” and open talks on take-home pay, which they said has fallen by a fifth since 2010.
The worst cost-of-living crisis in decades is “forcing increasing numbers to leave essential roles controlling pollution and protecting communities from weather disasters,” they warned.
