Teachers union slams government for preferring ‘draconian anti-strike legislation’ over talks

THE National Education Union (NEU) slammed Tory ministers today for prioritising “draconian anti-strike legislation over talks with unions.”
The charge came after the widely condemned Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Bill passed its first hurdle in the Commons on Monday night.
The proposed legislation, branded “authoritarian” by Labour MP Aspana Begum, would allow bosses to sack workers who refuse to provide a minimum level of service during walkouts across key sectors, including transport, health and education.
