Mitie not listening to staff, says Unite
A plane at City Airport

AGENCY staff employed by Mitie at London City Airport are being warned by their union that management is not fully addressing all their concerns.

Unite members who work for the outsourcing giant are being balloted on a company offer to pay the London living wage (LLW) from July 1.

The offer came after the 32 security guards and mobility assistance workers voted unanimously to take strike action last week.

However, the union warned workers that the offer does not address many of their concerns, such as better sick pay, adequate rest break facilities and formal union recognition.

Unite regional officer Michelle Cook said: “Unite received confirmation from the Mitie regional manager at the London City Airport that the LLW would be paid to workers from July 1, after they threatened strike action.

“We will ballot our members on this new offer as this proposal does not address all our members’ legitimate concerns.”
