Babcock Marine bosses urged to get back to the negotiation table as strikes kick off

LABOUR and trade union campaigners urged Babcock Marine bosses to get back to the negotiating table today as strike action kicked off at naval bases on the Clyde.

Hundreds of Unite union members at the Coulport and Faslane nuclear naval bases in the west of Scotland walked out over a dispute over pay and bargaining rights. 

Unite has repeatedly criticised Babcock Marine management for refusing to engage over the bases’ future, including the splitting of national security contracts.
