‘Appalling pay offer’ at Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health sparks strike

UNITE members at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health are due to strike over an “appalling pay offer,” the union announced yesterday.

Despite a massive 96 per cent vote in favour of walkouts on a 90 per cent turnout, bosses still offered workers a significantly below-inflation 4 per cent wage boost, which was overwhelmingly rejected, Unite said.

The London-based royal college, which is the membership body for paediatricians in Britain and around the world, is now set to face two three-day strikes from May 15 and 23. The latter walkout coincides with the organisation’s annual conference in Glasgow.
