AMBULANCE services are at breaking point, health unions warned today after official figures revealed a record 11,000 patients waited more than an hour before being passed on to accident and emergency teams last week.
The total — the highest since records began in 2010 — represented a shocking one in seven of all those needing emergency hospital care, NHS England said.
Nearly one in three endured a delay of at least 20 minutes before receiving the urgent treatment they needed.
