Aberdeen shoppers urged to boycott Israeli goods
Palestine rights campaigners protest in Bon Accord shopping centre, Aberdeen, January 26, 2025

ABERDEEN shoppers have been urged to boycott Israeli goods by the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign (SPSC).

In an echo of their actions last week at the city’s Bon Accord shopping centre, campaigners rallied outside the Union Square mall in the heart of Aberdeen before entering and festooning its balconies with the flag of Palestine and raising one to the rafters on helium-filled balloons.

Aberdeen SPSC’s Kate Ramsden told the Star: “Whilst we are pleased the ceasefire in Gaza is holding, we know the struggle will not end until all Palestinians can live free from Israeli occupation and oppression.

“We again called on members of the public in Aberdeen to boycott all Israeli goods found in the shops on our high streets, in our local shopping centres, and in the supermarkets.

“Just as the boycott of South African goods led to the end of apartheid there, we will keep up our campaign of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions to put pressure on Israel to end its brutality against the Palestinian people and to demand businesses and governments end their complicity in the bloodshed.”
