VENEZUELA’S socialist government has put the parliamentary TV channel under workers’ control to stop the opposition taking it over.

And President Nicolas Maduro announced emergency legislation to protect workers’ rights before the current National Assembly term expires.

Assembly Speaker Diosdado Cabello announced on Tuesday that control of ANTV, Venezuela’s equivalent of BBC Parliament, would be transferred to staff.
