Venezuela: Security services foil airport terror plot

VENEZUELAN security forces have foiled an opposition plot to break into a military air base and torch the aircraft to “create a climate of commotion,” Vice-President Tareck El Aissami revealed on Tuesday.

Mr Aissami, tasked by President Nicolas Maduro with fighting terrorism, said one of the group arrested had admitted to the plan.

Security forces seized automatic rifles, grenades, ammunition and petrol bombs in the raids, he said.
