WOMEN’S RUGBY UNION: Table-topping Gloucester-Hartpury thumped Loughborough 61-26 to maintain their 100 per cent record as the English Women’s Premiership resumed at the weekend.

Their closest challengers Saracens overwhelmed bottom club Sale 54-21, and third-placed Exeter won 40-10 at Ealing to ensure that the top three have already qualified for the end of season play-offs.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Abby Meyers top-scored with 22 points as London eased past Leicester 95-70 on Sunday evening to earn their fourth consecutive appearance in the British Basketball League play-off final.

They will face Newcastle for the silverware next week after Chloe Gaynor’s last second free throws helped them come from behind to claim a narrow 60-58 win over Caledonia.

Newcastle finished sixth in the regular season, 22 points behind London.
