WOMEN’S RUGBY:

Champions Gloucester-Hartpury lost their first game on the last day of the Women’s Premiership regular season after slipping to a narrow 33-31 defeat at Saracens, who will finish as runners-up.

Both teams are guaranteed home ties in the play-offs. Saturday’s other games saw bottom club Sale win 36-21 at Leicester, Loughborough edge out Ealing 19-18 and Deborah Wills score a hat-trick as third-placed Bristol saw off Harlequins 47-25.

NETBALL:

There’s no change at the top of the Super League after Manchester eased to an 82-50 win at Team Bath to stay three points ahead of Loughborough, 73-56 winners over bottom club Strathclyde and London Pulse, who beat Cardiff 59-48. Sigrid Burger scored 47 goals as the Severn Stars held off Saracens 59-55 to move closer to their first ever top four finish, and Leeds earned a 63-55 win at Surrey Storm.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION:

Toulouse needed extra time to win their record-extending sixth Champions Cup after seeing off Leinster 31-22 in Saturday’s final at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Toulouse had previously lost to Leinster in the last two semi-finals, whereas the Irish club have now finished as runners-up in the last three finals.

French international scrum-half Antoine Dupont was named as man of the match.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL:

England international Lucy Bronze picked up her fifth Champions League winners’ medal after goals from Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmati helped Barcelona beat her former club Lyon 2-0 in Saturday evening’s final in Bilbao.

Barcelona have now won three of the last four finals, while Lyon have picked up the trophy a record eight times. No other club have got their hands on the silverware since 2015.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE:

Cronulla still lead the NRL by two points despite being stuffed 42-0 at home by champions Penrith on Indigenous Round weekend.

North Queensland eased past Wests 42-28, Manly edged Melbourne 26-20, Canterbury thumped St George 44-12 and the Roosters won 44-16 in Canberra.

South Sydney remain bottom despite a big 44-26 win over Parramatta, Gold Coast shocked Brisbane 36-34 and injury hit New Zealand Warriors beat the Dolphins 24-20 on Sunday morning.

MEN’S FOOTBALL:

Granit Xhaka’s superb long-range strike sealed the domestic double for Bayer Leverkusen after they beat Kaiserslauteren 1-0 in the German Cup final on Saturday evening.

Despite playing the second half with 10 men after Odilon Kossounou had been sent off for two yellow card offences, Leverkusen still enjoyed 65 per cent of possession over their opponents from the second tier of German football.
