Terror suspect's trial goes ahead in France despite mass prison officer protests over safety

THE first trial related to 2015’s lethal Islamic State attack on Paris went ahead today despite ongoing industrial action by prison guards.
Jawad Bendaoud was transferred to the court after police cleared the entrance to the Fresnes prison in which he was being held.
Mr Bendaoud is accused of helping two of the Bataclan attackers hide from police following the terrorist outrage, which left 130 people dead, making it France’s deadliest violence since the police killing of hundreds of supporters of Algerian independence in the Paris massacre of 1961.
