SPEEDWAY: Dan Bewley won his third successive British Title at the Belle Vue track in Manchester on Saturday evening.

After trailing Tom Brennan by a point in the qualifying rounds Bewley won the final heat from ex-World Champion Tai Woffinden, who was the last person to win three consecutive British titles, with Brennan finishing third to claim the British Grand Prix wild card and Chris Harris in fourth.

NETBALL: Manchester Thunder sealed top spot in this year’s Super League after they eased to a 72-53 victory at Strathclyde and London Pulse edged to a 61-59 win at last year’s champions Loughborough.

Manchester will have home advantage in the play-off semi-finals against the Severn Stars, who beat bottom of the table Team Bath 72-57 in the latest round of fixtures, while Loughborough will take on London again.

MEN’S CRICKET: The Twenty20 World Cup continues tomorrow afternoon with South Africa taking on Bangladesh in New York.
