NATHAN HEANEY is determined to win his rematch against Brad Pauls after their March draw ruled out a world title fight in front of a home crowd in Stoke.
Heaney was held to a draw in his first defence of the British title on the “Magnificent Seven” card in Birmingham.
The Stoke man admitted a “dream” world title fight against Carlos Adames was to take place this summer at the Stoke City Stadium had he won that fight, but those plans have since been put on hold as he prepares for tomorrow’s rematch.
Speaking ahead of the bout, Heaney told the PA news agency: “The script was to fight at Stoke City against Carlos Adames for the WBC world title but the draw messed that fight up.
“It was locked in, it would have already happened, it would have happened weeks ago. It’s one of them, it’s the nature of boxing.
“The last one messed up a dream which I had to fight at Stoke City so I have to keep that going and get that locked in for 2025.”
Heaney won the British title after a career-best performance against Denzel Bentley in 2023.
The middleweight, who withstood heavy punches from Pauls in March, vowed to not make the same mistake again this weekend.
