The tourists are ranked as the world’s 10th best five-day team, one place above the Irish who earned a first win over Afghanistan in March.

Zimbabwe’s Craig Ervine is the highest-ranked test batsmen from either team and sits just six places below Ben Stokes in 40th place.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Super League action resumes tomorrow evening as Huddersfield play Leeds in a West Yorkshire derby, with both teams languishing in the bottom half of the table.

League leaders Wigan face second-placed Warrington tomorrow when the visitors will be without club captain Stefan Ratchford as he recovers from surgery on a fractured eye socket and jaw that will keep him out of action for at least eight weeks.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Malian international Adama Traore bagged a hat-trick as Hungarian champions Ferencvaros thrashed The New Saints 5-0 in the first leg of their Champions League second qualifying-round tie in Budapest on Tuesday.

Ferencvaros have reached the Europa League group stages in three of the last four seasons and are ranked 55th by Uefa, 26 places above Newcastle and 117 ahead of The New Saints.
