OLIVIA HOLDT struck a second-half hat-trick as Tottenham continued their promising start to the new Women’s Super League season by thrashing 10-woman Crystal Palace 7-0 at Selhurst Park yesterday.

The Eagles had seen midfielder Fuka Tsunoda given a straight red card after only eight minutes for a late foul on Cathinka Tandberg.

Spurs – who drew at Liverpool last week after opening with a win over West Ham – had twice struck the woodwork in the first half before Denmark forward Holdt’s treble took the game away from the home side.

Summer signing Victoria Pelova, substitute Shekiera Martinez and Amanda Nilden all scored in the closing stages. Netherlands midfielder Pelova then slotted in a seventh during added time to leave Martin Ho’s side second in the table.

Everton snatched a 1-0 win at West Ham after a stoppage-time own goal from Irons defender Laia Codina.
