Felix Gall is 21 seconds behind in third with Onley another 41 seconds back in fourth. Today’s hilly tenth stage takes the riders from Alcaraz to the municipality of Elche de la Sierra in Albacete.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Preston North End and Stoke are still both looking for their first points of the season when the English Championship resumes this evening.

Bottom club Stoke face Norwich while Preston host Bristol City. Second top Wolves are at West Ham while surprise early pace-setters Charlton, who hold the league’s only 100 per cent record after three games, visit West Bromwich Albion tomorrow night.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: New Zealand Warriors moved top of the NRL by the narrowest of margins after they beat Newcastle Knights 46-32 and second-placed Penrith saw off Canterbury-Bankstown 24-10. Just one point difference separates them ahead of next week’s final regular season games. The Warriors have reached 10 Grand Finals in their 31-year history but are yet to win the title. Penrith have been champions in four of the last five seasons.

MEN’S CYCLING: Leeds-born Tom Pidcock took gold at the mountain bike World championships in Val di Sole, northern Italy on Sunday. The two-time Olympic champion finished 17 seconds ahead of Scotland’s Charlie Aldridge with Canadian Cole Punchard third. Switzerland’s Sina Frei won the women’s race with compatriot Nicole Keller third behind Italy’s Martina Berta. Evie Richards was the highest placed Briton in sixth.
