Unite hails recognition agreement for Prestwick airport tanker drivers
Prestwick airport

PRESTWICK airport tanker drivers will be represented by Unite after the union secured a recognition agreement with North Air.

The deal covers some 20 employees who supply fuel to passenger and military aircraft at the publicly-owned airport.

Yesterday, Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “The recognition agreement for tanker drivers is another significant win for Unite at Prestwick airport.

“It shows that we are going from strength to strength at the airport delivering better jobs, pay and conditions for our members.”

In April, Unite announced that it secured 4.2 per cent wage wins for North Air workers based across Scottish airports, and a boost to allowances backdated to April.

Unite industrial officer Siobhan McCready said that the agreement “will give us a platform to build on… it will now allow us to formally negotiate on pay and wider working conditions for our members, which is a big step forward.”
