ACTIVISTS hoisted pink and yellow flags in Manchester and Exeter on Saturday demanding Prime Minister Andy Burnham tax the rich.
Take Back Power supporters placed reimagined Union Jacks on lamp-posts and barriers including at No 10 North in Manchester’s Heron House.
The non-violent civil resistance group called on the government to establish a permanent citizen-led assembly, the house of the people, with the power to tax extreme wealth.
Sam Burgess, a student from Lancaster who took part in the action in Manchester, said: “Everyone deserves to live in a community where they feel safe and welcome. But while the obscenely rich hoard our country’s wealth, ordinary people are suffering.
“I’m graduating from university this year into a broken society. I can’t see how I can use my degree to do good while living and working in a system that is dedicated to making the super-rich richer and screwing over ordinary people.”
