ANIMAL welfare activists slammed a fox hunting festival in Peterborough for “sanitising brutality” as it displays the scale of killing despite the ban.
The League Against Cruel Sports called on members of the public to boycott the Festival of Hounds taking place on Wednesday in the Cambridgeshire city.
They also urged people to send a copy of a report authored by the league which detailed the scale of suspected illegal fox hunting still taking place, up in the 2025-26 season with 624 incidents reported.
Meanwhile, the government is considering legislation to finally end fox hunting following the consultation to ban trail hunting.
The league’s Emily Lawrence said that organisers were “trying to hoodwink the public and government by sanitising the brutal world of fox hunting to mask the killing of foxes and hunts’ anti-social behaviour and criminality.”
They added that at least two hunts taking part in the festival have already been convicted of illegal fox hunting.
