Reform Senedd member under fire for flag comments
A view of the Senedd

PEOPLE in Wales took to social media today to ridicule the claims of a new Reform UK Senedd member for saying the Welsh parliament should not fly foreign flags.

Caerdydd Ffynnon Taf MS Cai Parry-Jones said flying foreign flags, including the Ukrainian flag, on the Senedd building was virtue signalling.

People attacking the Reform MS on social media said “it’s a statement of solidarity” and “human beings use symbols to express values.”

Another X user (formerly Twitter) said: “It’s a way of expressing human decency.”

The under-fire Mr Parry-Jones also posted a photo of two laptops and a mobile phone and said: ”The reason why all 96 Senedd members get their second £2,000 laptop is because we aren’t trusted to remember to bring our first £2,000 laptop into the chamber with us for plenary.”

A Senedd Commission spokesperson said MSs receive one standard laptop, plus each desk in the Siambr (Chamber) is equipped with its own laptop.

Members use the computers in the Siambr for electronic voting.
