David set for England debut in Six Nations

BRISTOL winger Millie David will make her Red Roses debut when England look to extend their strong start to the 2026 Six Nations against Wales on Saturday.

David, 20, has caught the eye with 26 tries in 31 Premiership Women’s Rugby appearances, earning her an international chance as the seven-times defending champions look for another big win.

Last weekend England, defeated Scotland 84-7 at Murrayfield to extend their unbeaten run to 35 games in all competitions, but head coach John Mitchell is not letting the world champions dwell on their successes.

“Last weekend was a special performance by the team at Murrayfield and one the whole squad and staff can be proud of, but we’ve already left that behind us,” Mitchell said.

“This week is about being clear on where our game is strong and where we need to improve. Wales are a side that overcommit at the contest, which will challenge us in a different way.

“It’s one we’re looking forward to, and an opportunity to keep evolving our game beyond the level we’ve started to build.

“Under Sean Lynn, Wales are improving, playing with greater clarity and enthusiasm and we know we’ll have to earn that right again.

“For us, it’s about elevating our game. That means being courageous in our skillsets, building better connections and owning our decisions.

“I love this side when it embraces those challenges, especially in front of a sold-out Ashton Gate.”

Mitchell has given Mackenzie Carson her first start of the campaign at loose-head, while Bristol’s Delaney Burns has joined the squad after an injury to Lilli Ives Campion.

The stats from recent meetings make grim reading for Wales, who have not beaten England since 2015 and lost 67-12 in Cardiff during last year’s tournament.

Lynn has welcomed back Alisha Joyce, in line for a comeback five months after giving birth to her son Ralphie.

Joyce will be on the bench, despite playing only half-an-hour of rugby in the Celtic Challenge this season.

Branwen Metcalfe will make her first Wales start in place of injured captain Kate Williams in the back row.

Wales, who have not picked up a Six Nations win since the final round of 2024, suffered a 38-7 loss to France last week, having been level at the break before their opponents turned the screw at Arms Park.
