MORE than 50 employers with over 1,400 staff switched to a four-day work week in 2025.

New data published today from the 4 Day Week Foundation found that the total number of workers who were allowed to move to a shorter week has now reached more than 6,000, with 253 accredited employers.

London had the highest number of newly accredited companies, followed by Scotland and the north-west of England.

A total of 53 organisations permanently adopted a four-day work week with no loss in pay in 2025, according to the foundation.

Campaign director Joe Ryle said: “These companies are proving that there is nothing stopping organisations in the UK from moving to a four-day week.

“Across virtually every sector and region, employers are showing that shorter working weeks boost productivity, improve wellbeing and help attract and retain talent – all without cutting pay.

“The question is no longer whether it works, but how quickly others will follow.”
