ANGRY teachers at Flint High School staged their 10th day of strike action today as they fight to resolve long-standing disputes with the local authority.

The striking members of the National Education Union (NEU) are angry at the employer’s failure to deal with bullying by the head teacher and high levels of poor behaviour by pupils.

An NEU Cymru spokesperson said: “The staff have no confidence that the governing body are being given the full picture of the dispute and behaviour of the head towards staff.”

Concerned parents and carers, speaking publicly on Monday, supported the teachers but wanted an end to the dispute.

Flintshire Council’s Claire Homard said: “Senior officers have spent many hours in negotiations with NEU officials to seek a resolution to the ongoing industrial action.”

Ms Homard urged the union to call off the strike, accept the advice given about the role of the governing body and work constructively with school leaders.

The NEU said its members did not want to take strike action and that the union stands ready to resolve the dispute.
