MEN’S BOXING: British boxer Moses Itauma is laser-focused on Saturday night’s fight with Dillian Whyte, but believes he will one day become undisputed world heavyweight champion and can beat Oleksandr Usyk.

Itauma faces the toughest test of his fledgling career when he headlines in Riyadh against veteran Whyte tomorrow evening.

A 14th consecutive win in the professional ranks for Chatham southpaw Itauma will keep him on track for a world title shot in 2026.

MEN’S CYCLING: Great Britain’s Matt Richardson has broken his own world record in the men’s flying 200m start, a day after becoming the first man to break the nine-second mark.

The fastest man on two wheels returned to the boards of the Konya Velodrome in Turkey today and clocked a time of 8.857 seconds – at an average speed of 81.291 kilometres per hour.

The 26-year-old took advantage of a reserve day to go again and find another eight tenths of a second.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Newcastle boss Eddie Howe admitted today that want-away striker Alexander Isak will determine whether or not he plays for the club again.

The 25-year-old Sweden international will not be involved in Saturday’s Premier League opener at Aston Villa after telling the club he wants to explore his options this summer.

When head coach Howe was asked if he could see Isak playing for the Magpies before the end of the transfer window, he replied: “As I sit here now, I don’t know that. Alex will control that.”

ATHLETICS: Olympic 800 metres champion Keely Hodgkinson admits she has found it “upsetting” to be out of action for over a year.

The 23-year-old has not raced since claiming gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics after sustaining a hamstring injury in February, then suffering setbacks – twice-postponing her season debut. Hodgkinson will return to the track today in the 800 metres at the Silesia Diamond League meet.
